Latest news about Down-to-Earth Bookstore's Bargain Bin
On August 5, 2007, we decided to check the big old (1796) farmhouse's heating system, which had suffered a disastrous freeze-up last winter during a well below zero period.
After a great deal of repair work by my two Journey's End sons, we decided to test the integrity of the system. It was fine! - except that somehow, a long-unused circuit for the upstairs of the old house (most of which is no longer used) had somehow been hooked up, and long-dry radiators filled - and poured out the water again, as their bleeder valves had been left open, by persons unknown.
Since that part of the house is not used very much, we didn't realize that the flood was pouring down from above until several hours later! At that time we removed the books which had became soaked beyond recall by the flooding water and salvaged those which had been less damaged - some only slightly damp, others more seriously. We spent the day, which thankfully was dry and sunny!, sorting them all out. Here's the list.
Until they are gone, all books listed below $5 for a slightly-damaged copy, shipping free; $2.50 (our shipping cost) for a somewhat more damaged copy. For more than one copy of the latter category, shipping free.
Keep an eye out for additions, discounted books as time goes by, la la la.
